Who says you need a winter coat?? Sweetheart, coats are so last season!? Of course, you might be tempted to think that a cape is so last century, unless you happen to be really into Lord of the Rings reenactments and Renaissance Festivals, but that is no longer true — and as someone who loves hobbits and elves anyway, I myself simply could not be happier.
There are lots of different capes and cape like garments you can choose as your outerwear of choice this fall and winter. There are capes and capelets, of course, as well as cloaks, wraps, stoles, and shawls.
If you do not want to go full throttle, then a cloak, a wrap, a stole, or a shawl in somewhat warmer weather is the right choice for you. If you want to go really dramatic while keeping warm from head to toe in the bargain, however, go with a cape or a cloak.
